AI is the ultimate visual-art/image pollution tool … or as you say “...content for the sake of content” resulting in “...quality content getting swamped by junk content.”
“...AI art is atomized and disconnected” — Which is the point perhaps, as decontextualization leads to meaninglessization, which in turn, leads to demoralization ... which would appear to be the ultimate goal, since demoralization is fundamental to facilitating enslavement.
PS: love the third Ent face and the hands-on-hips squirrel.
Wonderful! In one sense it’s coals to Newcastle for me. I have detested AI as garbage and deceit and theft, but your thoroughgoing and delightful essay strengthens and undergirds my detest. 🙏 many thanks. And thanks for so many powerful images.
As someone who sometimes has used AI conversations or art in my articles, I find your arguments thoughtful and persuasive. Many people simply dismiss AI out of hand, which seems to me too fundamentalist. Yet there are fundamental issues at stake here that you unpack, so I say, well done. I may not yet be an anti-AI absolutist, but you have certainly pointed me in that direction. :)
We called into your Fako show and wanted to encourage you to get in touch w/us sometime to discuss the techno nightmare and the communitarian governance system behind it. idyupdate@yahoo.com or phone us anytime 360-570-0923
“If it’s not worth your time to create it, it’s not worth our time to consume it.” Excellent point and post. And I don’t think there’s a need for the conciliatory note. Your argument speaks for itself and if people take issue with it they can respond in kind :)
Good stuff!
