I am not voting for the first time in my life in this Selection, yes selection as we actually have no choice but to vote for the least worst of the only choices we have and to me this is no choice at all. If you listen to these two speak it is clear that between them both there is not enough statesmanship to add up to a Forrest Gump and this is what we have devolved into. The citizenry of this country has abdicated its responsibility to pay attention to the destruction of our freedoms and they actually think Democracy is a self-running, self-regulating machine that needs no maintenance and so they did not maintain it. Most think that elections matter and they are either partizan no matter what or one candidate says something that is a hot button for their small minds that resonates with them personally. Imagine if you work for an arms manufacturer or mistle plant or any other war machine industry, you will vote for the one who is protecting your job period and anything else does not matter, if you are a career soldier you will vote the same way, in your own interest, not the good of everyone, but your own. never engaged in the process until it is time to vote for your favorite corporate Schill again. nothing deep is thought about ever, no civil responsibility at all. They listen to the corporate news as if it were news and not propaganda then write off small investigative news as disinformation when they are in fact truth tellers like Assange, Drake, Benny, Manning et al. the government does not want you to think that it does vile and despicable things in the world. It is not Democracy that the National endowment for Democracy does in the world, it is not world health that the WHO is interested in, it is not protecting your health that the CDC, FDA or any of these agencies, foundations actually do that is in their names, it is the opposite. Their moto is truth, we don't need no stinking truth! Just shut up and do not interfere or ask questions of us as the subjects are just too complicated for your small mind to understand or as the old joke goes, trust us simply means fuck you all. Most people cannot tell you who their county officials are much less what branches of government are because they do not think it is important, and this is why we have two idiots running in the political theatre called the elections. POTUS changes but the real big G government does not change no matter who occupies the big white house. Trump, Harris makes no difference because nothing will systemically change. I really miss George Carlins honest and blistering commentary about this absurdity that passes as Democracy. We live in a police state and the Patriot Act was passed by a population that was so frightened that they gave away their rights based on a false flag operation called 9-11. Per your statement that most people are unaware of the county level officials; the local level politics I think matter in a way that national politics don’t, namely that individuals can actually have a positive impact on their community, rather then little or no impact in national elections. So generally I’ll check some boxes on a ballot for local candidates if I think there is enough of a difference between the options for it to maybe matter.
I think it is healthy to regard our relative powerlessness in national elections not as a sign that we are powerless, which I don’t think we are, but merely that our energies are better placed elsewhere where we can have more effect.
There is an often cited quote that “Politics is downstream from culture” I believe coined by Breitbart. I know there’s debate about whether or not that’s really true, and I’m open to counter arguments, but the statement rings true to me. I think that’s helpful because it gives us reason to divert our attention away from the rigged political games to the much more rewarding area of building better culture.
One reason I mention local politics is because the this is where the monsters start from, and they know that people do not scrutinize the local elections as much. As these country commissioners and council members, Mayors move up the ladder they are not noticed much, like a slow growing cancer does not manifest until later and they are groomed by the corporate interests, money and power and this is why it is most important to find out what the local office seekers are actually about before they end up in the federal government as enemies of the people. Speaking of building better culture, our current culture is as sour as old milk. We are now in a situation where we have diminishing returns on technology that has created a population of screen addicted twits that do not pay attention to anything important. This is a pitiable state of affairs because they still think they are free. Now that the political theatre has ended nothing will change systemically as usual, we will devolve further and further toward a society that will be able to do in public what they have been doing in private and all the while being enslaved, Jack.
